Weekend Recap

On Friday night, Jeff and I gathered our ski gear, packed our overnight bag and turned in relatively early in preparation for our day of skiing on Saturday.

The alarm went off at 5:15am and we sleepily ate a protein filled breakfast, filled two thermoses full of coffee, and packed the car forgetting one very important item. More on that later. We hit the road right on schedule at 6:30am. It took us about 2 hours to get to Massanutten and we hit the slopes just as the lifts open at 9am. Surprisingly, the slopes were not crowded at all and we had our favorite trail pretty much to ourselves the entire day without ever waiting in line for the lift.



We went in for lunch around 11:30 to miss the crowds and treated ourselves to a pitcher of beer, some fig newtons and our homemade pb&j. After lunch we skiied hard for the next 3 hours. We hit the road around 3pm with a quick stop in Harrisonburg to grab a gift for Quinn, Dave and Jameson, and their foster dog Oliver.

Our drive to Northern Virginia was relatively uneventful until right around Manassas when I realized that we had forgotten our overnight bag with our clothes for dinner that evening. All we had were the clothes we skiied in. I made a quick call to Quinn to explain our problem and lucky for us we were right at an exit with many store options. We were cutting it close on time so Jeff and I entered Old Navy on a mission and came out victorious.


We made it to Quinn and Dave's in time to quickly shower and get dressed in our new clothes. For me a dress, Quinn's tights, her makeup and Lellis brought me shoes to the restaurant. For Jeff, two new pairs of jeans, a button down, new boxers, and a new undershirt.


Everything worked out in the end and we made it to Krysta's birthday dinner on time and dressed appropriately. We enjoyed a yummy dinner with Krysta, Ryan, Jolene, John, Quinn, Dave, Lauren, Tom, and Andi at Sweetwater Tavern. Fun times.
