Yesterday my coworker LouEllen and I left for The Homestead for our Annual Convention site visit. We had a lot to accomplish in a short time period. We toured the property, went over the preliminary BEOs, sampled some food, made some reservations for our event VIPs and took photos of all the rooms we will be using at the convention so we can create our planning storyboard. And on the way home, we chose our preliminary menus. The Homestead is an elegant old Virginia property and is the site of our Annual Convention every other year. The place is certainly nice but during the winter months, when occupancy is low, it definitely has the feeling of the movie The Shining. Red Rum anyone?
The site visit is one of my favorite parts of the planning process because it allows time to really see the property and get a feel for everything before the craziness of the event. Jeff was jealous he couldn't come of course.
