Ginger

UPDATE-Ginger is home now and recovering. I went to visit her yesterday during lunch and she was not doing well at all and I left in tears. We returned last night and spent close to two hours hanging out with her and walking her outside and she had perked up significantly. Towards the end of our visit, while talking with the doctor, she seemed to decline a bit and looked like she might get sick again. So-we made the decision to leave her at the vet hospital for another night so she could remain on her IV receiving fluids and meds. The doc called last night after 10pm and told us her red blood cell count was back up and she was doing much better and could be taken home today. So-we picked her up this morning at 5:30am (we were too excited to wait) and brought her home. Jeff took a half day today so he could stay home with her this morning to monitor her. The three of us snuggled up in bed for awhile before I had to get up for work. She seems to be on the mend but will spend several weeks on four different medications and several days on a bland diet. Thanks for thinking about our sweet pup! Here she is in the vet hospital last night. She had a very pretty pink bandage on to keep her catheter in her arm.

Our beloved Ginger is sick in the Cary Street Veterinary Hospital. She was sick to her stomach all day on Sunday with the obvious symptoms. This has happened before and passed so we spent the day monitoring her closely. On Sunday night things got worse so at 10pm we took her in. She was admitted and spent the night receiving x-rays, i.vs, and blood tests. The report this morning is that the blood work came back fine, the x-rays showed no coins (thank goodness! as she has been know to eat coins in the past), and she seems to be acting a bit perkier. Jeff talked the Vet this morning and although she seems to be feeling a bit better he is not comfortable releasing her yet. Please be thinking about our sweet puppy and we will keep you posted on her progress. I am going to visit her on my lunch hour to cheer her up a bit.
