Lizzy and I have become regulars at the Tuckahoe YMCA. Because Lizzy is getting married in May, she has begun her bridal bootcamp and I have jumped on board. Buddy workouts are crucial if both parties involved have a tendency to skip out on the gym. We hold each other accountable for showing up and so far it is working out well. The Y has a new class called Punk Rope. The December 9 edition of the Richmond Times Dispatch described it as "class that ranges from playground-style games to military-type drills, all set to the likes of The Ramones, The Sex Pistols and Green Day." And don't forget the jump roping. During a regular 55-minute class, participants jump rope for two or three minutes at a time, then they switch to other conditioning drills in between jumping sessions.
We attended our first Punk Rope class two weeks ago and loved it. Although neither of us is very good at jumping rope (we discovered during the first class) the class overall is a lot of fun. Tonight we go back for round two.
