Happy Earth Day!

Wanted to wish everyone a Happy Earth Day!! Jeff and I have been working hard to be more environmentally friendly lately and we think we are doing a pretty good job. We now recycle everything we can-bottles, boxes, cartons, newspapers, etc. We have switched to using "green" cleaning products AND laundry detergent. We take cloth bags to the grocery store and ride our bikes as many places as possible. We have also started to buy organic food as much as possible. Unfortunately buying organic is much more expensive so we search for good sales and try to focus on buying organic fruits and veggies since the non organic version of those types of foods have the most chemicals and pesticides.

I recently read about a new book called Gorgeously Green about ways a woman can make her entire existence more environmentally friendly. Each chapter covers topics from beauty to fitness, shopping to your kitchen—even your transportation. Whether it's finding the right lipstick, making dinner, buying gifts, or picking out a hot new outfit, this is a book that tackles your daily eco-challenges with a take-charge plan.

Find out how to:
Green your entire beauty regime
Detoxify your home
Indulge in guilt-free shopping
Adopt a home fitness routine
Prepare eco-licious treats
Give your kitchen a green makeover
Become more aware of your impact on the earth

I am hoping the Tuckahoe Library carries this one, but if not I just might have to buy it.

Also-Jeff works for a commercial contracter in Project Management and one of the buildings he is building is LEED Certified meaning that the building meets USGBC Green Building Practices. Jeff has become extremely interested in green building and is now working towards becoming a LEED Accredited Professional. To learn more about this, visit www.usgbc.com.

Happy Earth Day!
