Fleming Fun: Waves, Watermelon, and Wonderful Weather

This past weekend Jeff and I headed down to the Fleming's beach house in Corolla for the first time in a long time to enjoy the beach and to celebrate Marshall and Kathy's anniversary. We arrived on Friday night and hung out for a bit before bed. On Saturday morning, we woke up and took Ginger down to the beach to go swimming. We were so excited to take her knowing the beach is her favorite place. After she had a nice, long swim, we went back to the house for breakfast before spending the entire afternoon on the beach. The skies were sunny but the temperature was H-O-T! Kathy's cousins from Wisconsin arrived on Saturday afternoon so we spent a little time with them before their rental house was ready. David, Lori, Demi Ray and Dalton were in Corolla for a family reunion 3 or 4 years ago and liked it so much they came back this year with their friends Lisa and Dale. The whole crew is so much fun to hang out with and Jeff and I were sad to not be able to spend more time with them. On Saturday evening, Marshall prepared a feast of chicken, steak, asparagus, salad and buttery onions. The Wisconsin crew came over and joined the entire Fleming clan. Courtney, Paul and James had also made a surprise appearance that afternoon. James spent the afternoon playing in a pool on the bottom deck of the house. He is now walking and seeing him scamper around the house is just the cutest thing. After dinner, a lively game of Pictionary with boys against girls took place. The boys won but I think they cheated.

On Sunday morning we took Ginger down to the beach for another swim and then Jeff and I spent almost the entire day in the water either surfing or boogy boarding. The waves were great and I was relieved to find out that my surfing skills haven't gone out the window despite the fact that I haven't really been surfing in 2 years.
