Rolling on the River

On Saturday morning Jeff woke up at 7 am and much to my amazement, he got right out of bed and went downstairs. I must have dozed off because the next thing I knew my cell phone was ringing and Jeff's name was on the caller ID. Apparently, he felt guilty about the fact that we would be leaving Ginger home all day so he had gotten up and taken her to the river for a morning swim.

Danielle and Steve had planned to join us on the river but first we had to fine them a canoe to rent. After a few early morning phone calls, we had located a spot in Scottsville, VA to rent them a canoe. Danielle and Steve met us at our house and we hopped on the road for the hour drive to Scottsville to James River Reeling and Rafting. It is amazing what an hours drive will do for a river trip. The portion of the James that we canoed on Saturday was beautiful...clear water, lots of fish, some cool beaches, and some great rocks to jump from. Definitely worth the drive. We had a great time with Steve and Danielle canoeing and fishing. Danielle and I made some picnic salads and brought a bottle of wine so we had a lovely little picnic on a small beach on the side of the river.

When we got back to Richmond, we showered up and then met Danielle and Steve at Steve's house to grill out and play Guitar Hero. Neither Jeff nor I had ever played before and the game was much harder than we thought but we had fun!
