Back on the Road

Jeff got off of work on Friday afternoon so we got back on the interstate and went back to Lexington to Jeff's grandparent's farm. We arrived in time for a dinner of delicious Thanksgiving leftovers. We went to bed early in order to wake up at the crack of dawn to leave for Blacksburg for the VT vs. UVA game. We arrived in the burg at around 8am, parked and met Marshall in the RV lot to begin a loooong day of tailgating and football. ED and Mathew were in town from San Diego and I could not have been more excited. As soon as I heard from ED telling me she was in the tailgate zone, I hightailed it over to the McComas lot and pretty much spent the rest of the day glued to her hip. We tailgated with Lizzy, Dan, Quinn's sister Haley and her boyfriend Dustin and the rest of Erin's family and Jef's family. We watched the game then played with James and then we began our evening of bar hopping, eating pizza and drinking. We met up with Lizzy again for a short while and then Jenn Knight found us. We made it to Hokie House, PK's, TOTS and The Cellar. It was like a mini crawl. TOTS was interesting to say the least. In Jenn's words, "Our husbands were very busy defending our honor."

ED's mom Wyndi picked us up from downtown after we had had enough and we all went back to the ultra glam Super 8 motel in Christiansburg. ED, Wyndi and I slept in one bed together and Matt and Jeff slept in the other on top of the covers and fully clothed of course.

We woke up early and were on the road by 8 to ensure we made it back to Richmond in time for ED and Mathew's flight back to San Diego. We got in around 11:30 and lounged about in front of the fire in the fireplace until they had to leave for the airport. I am always sad when ED has to leave but it was sooo much fun catching up with her and Matt! We miss you guys soooo much and can't wait to see you again soon.

After they left, we got showered up and then went to get our Christmas tree. We decided not to venture into Powhatan to cut down our own tree this year and took the easy way out and got our tree from the West End Jaycees at the Beverly Hills Shopping Center. They actually have a really good selection of trees and we got a great 7 footer. We made a quick stop at CVS for some buy one box get one free Christmas lights and then came home and decorated the tree, the fireplace, the banister and the front of our house.

Such a good weekend!
