Fleming Fun: Fun with Friends

We were home this weekend for the first time in a long time and we took advantage of it by hanging out with our best friends. On Friday night Ed, my California love, came into town to surprise her mom for the weekend. Before picking her up at the airport we met up with Jenny and Doug and Cortney and Clayton. We tried to go to our favorite Barrel Thief but unfortunately it was way too crowded so we moved on to Cafe Caturra. We had so much fun sipping wine and eating yummy food first by the outdoor fireplace and then inside at a small table for 6. We stayed at the Cafe until the very last minute before heading back to our house and then Lizzy, Jenny and I hit the road to the airport to pick up Ed! Her flight arrived right on time and then we were back on the road to Williamsburg to Ed's mom's house for the big surprise.

When we got to Williamsburg, we walked right in the house and surprised Wyndi. She was so excited to see Ed resulting in a 10 minute hug complete with tears. We admired photos from Ed's youth (hilarious!) and chatted until well after midnight when we had to unfortunately get back on the road back to Richmond.

On Saturday morning Jeff woke up at 7am to go rabbit hunting with Clayton. I slept in a little later then woke up, got ready and drove back to Williamsburg to spend the day with Ed. (Her mom had to work all day). We hit the Williamsburg Prime Outlets and took advantage of some amazing deals. If you live around here, I highly recommend hitting the outlets sometime soon to take advantage.

Ed's mom met up with us late in the afternoon and I left shortly after to head back to Richmond. I called Jeff on the way home to see if he and Clayton had any hunting success. They both shot a rabbit and Jeff informed me that we would be having a feast at Cortney and Clayton's house that night. On the menu was deer (from the one Jeff killed before Christmas), rabbit (from the day's hunt), grits, potatoes and salad. I also invited Danielle and Steve because we had already made plans to hang with them on Saturday night. Danielle and Steve have been brewing their own beer and they wanted everyone to sample the first brew.

We had so much fun at Cortney and Clayton's for the big feast. And can we say Organic?! Almost everything we ate was extremely fresh (not store bought) including the beer. Danielle and Steve had made a brew similar to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It was delicious. I have a feeling we will be brewing our own beer in the very near future. After dinner we had a very heated game of Cranium with boys against girls. The girls won...TWICE.
