Finally Some Sunshine

We began the weekend with absolutely no plans. We hit Corks & Kegs for the Friday night beer and wine tasting as usual. A rep from Magic Hat was there and a purchase of any magic hat beer came with a free pint glass and a beer opener. We are suckers for things like this so home we came with a six pack of H.I.P.A. Yum.

We fixed dinner and then watched Slumdog Millionaire. So good. Before the movie was over, we received a call from Danielle and Steve and so we met them at City Limit for a drink to celebrate Steve's birthday. They came back to our house for a bit for more fun. Earlier at Corks & Kegs we had created a six pack of random beers for Steve for his birthday so we were excited to give it to him.

On Saturday morning, we were up early because the day was soo gorgeous. After Jeff made us delicious blueberry pancakes for breakfast, we headed downtown for an Earth Day Festival. We picked up a lot of neat giveaways and some great environmental information. After the Earth Day Festival, we came home, hopped on our bikes and road across Three Chopt to Little Sisters of the Poor. They were having a French Food Festival as a fundraiser so we did our part by supporting a local community organization. The food was a little heavy for such a warm day so we rode to Kroger instead for some good sandwich ingredients and came home for lunch on the deck.

The rest of the afternoon was spent on the deck. I read and sunbathed and Jeff did random tasks around the yard. One of those tasks was something we saw at the Earth Day Festival. One of the booths had a checker board made out of a log. We have had a random log in our backyard for awhile so we turned it into a checker board.

On Saturday night we went to the Richmond Hokie Club Casino Night fundraiser. A coworker of Jeff's had extra free tickets to the event and with the promise of a free buffet, open bar, and casino games, we couldn't pass it up. On Friday night we asked Danielle and Steve to come with us and the four of us had a blast playing the casino games and just being all around ridiculous. Danielle won a hat signed by Frank Beamer and we took some of the buffet food home because we thought that would be funny...

We were a bit slower getting up this morning but were really productive once we got going. We finished planting our big garden and began the construction of a smaller garden by our deck. In the smaller one we will plant watermelon and eggplant. In our big garden, we have strawberries, bell peppers, lavender, cilantro, brussel sprouts, banana peppers, tomatoes, corn, basil and rosemary. Now we just wait for it all to start growing.

We had such a fun weekend and Steve and Danielle-we had so much fun hanging out with y'all!!
