Weekend before last we had a house full of visitors. On Friday night, Chunk and Katie and Mom and Dad arrived and Saturday afternoon brought Chris and Karena. Mom and Dad were here to attend the World Beer Festival with us and the others were in town for Chase Spence and Courtney Wolff's wedding.
Friday night brought us out to Sine with Chunk and Katie to hang out with other college friends and some of Jeff's high school friends in town for the wedding. We didn't make it home until close to 2am, but I was up bright and early for some exercise with mom and Ginger before we prepared a massive breakfast for the group.
I used a trust Paula Deen and Friends cookbook to make Paula's son Jaime's Juevos Rancheros. Lucky for out waistlines, this Paula Deen recipe didn't contain a giant amount of fat. We served Juevos Rancheros, cherries, watermelon, juice and coffee. Delish.
Chunk and Katie relaxed during the afternoon while mom, dad, Jeff and I visited the World Beer Festival on Brown's Island. This festival was outstanding and we tasted, and tasted and tasted and still didn't get to them all. The day was scalding hot, but the beer was nice and cold and we hope the festival returns next year.
After the festival, it was back to the house so the rest of us could get ready for the wedding. The ceremony was in Windsor Farms and the reception at the Country Club of Virginia. The whole thing was beautiful and we had a blast at the reception.
We returned on Saturday night to a dark and hot situation...no power. A quick but windy storm in the afternoon had blown something onto a nearby powerline and we were without power for close to 24 hours. We all were able to sleep anyway, but were up early and out of the house for brunch at Black Sheep in downtown Richmond. So good. Chunk and Katie joined us before heading back to Tidewater.
Such a fun weekend full of house guests-we love it!
