A few weekends ago we celebrated Jeff's 30th birthday. It is so hard to believe he is 30 and that I will be following soon. To celebrate we invited several friends down to Corolla to hang out, drink beers, eat food, and relax on the beach. Thanks to Andy, Paul, Courtney, Cortney, Clayton, Zach, Stephanie, Chris, Zach, and Zach G. for coming to celebrate. On Friday night we all arrived around 9 and ate a late dinner, drank a lot of beers and spent the night catching up.
On Saturday we got up, I made breakfast for all and then we spent the majority of the day in our bathing suits sunbathing on the beach. Sunbathing in March is pretty awesome.
Most of us went to lunch at First Flight that afternoon and then returned to the house to read, nap, snack, watch tv, etc.
Saturday evening brought a group of us to the grocery store in hopes of buying some fresh fish to grill for dinner. The Harris Teeter that is bursting at the seams in the summer becomes a store that carries only pure necessities in the winter. Unfortunately there was no fresh fish and a limited selection of meat as well. But lucky for us, almost everything was on sale. We bought chicken for all, side items and more beer and the total came down to $5 for dinner per person. There are advantages to visiting tourist locales in the off season.
We came home, fixed dinner, feasted and proceeded to play several rounds of asshole. It's been a very long time since I have played drinking games but the strategy came back to all of us like it was yesterday. Chris gave us a mini concert as well which is always awesome.
Sunday morning had us up earlier than Saturday morning and we cleaned the house in preparation for our departure.
On our way home, Cort, Clayton Jeff and I stopped at the Weeping Radish brewery and pub for some lunch and some more brewskis...as if we hadn't had enough. It was tasty and the pub was an unexpected surprise with almost everything they serve being produced on site. They even have a butcher.
Thanks again to all for making Jeff's 30th birthday weekend a special one.
