On Thursday night Lizzy hosted a Christmas Cookie exchange for 18 at her beautiful home. Each attendee was required to make 4 dozen cookies of her choice and email the recipe to Lizzy. Having never been to a cookie exchange before, I wanted to make a different kind of cookie and also something untraditional and a bit more difficult than the average cookie. I searched for recipes literally for weeks and finally decided on PB&J cookies.
On Wednesday night I made a stop at the grocery store for all the necessary ingredients and then immediately got to work. Three hours later, all 4 dozen cookies were ready for the party.
Lizzy definitely knows how to throw a party and is the ultimate hostess. She had prepared some delicious finger foods and had an abundance of vino and a delicious pot of mulled wine. As the guests arrived Lizzy's dining room table quickly filled with platters and platters of delicious looking cookies. We socialized for a bit and then it was time to make our cookie plates. We each grabbed a red or gold charger Lizzy had purchased for the cookies and then made our way around the table to pick three of each type of cookie. The mound of cookies we ended up with was decadent and obscene. Each guest left with a platter of cookies and recipe cards with the recipes of each cookie along with a cookie cutter.
