Back in the fall, Jeff's company had an auction for United Way. In the auction, Jeff won the services of a painter to paint one room in our house. For that he paid $120.
The painter came out to our house last Monday to check out our downstairs and see which room to paint. In our house, all the downstairs walls run together so painting only one room would look a bit strange.
We asked the painter to provide a quote on how much it would cost to paint the entire downstairs to which he replied, "Oh, we will just do the whole thing for the $120." WHAT?! Amazing.
He said he would try to fit us in the schedule in the next two weeks. Then Wednesday we get a call saying the painters can come Friday and we had a day to choose the color. So we made a spur of the moment decision on a greenish/bluish/grayish color. On Thursday night we took everything off the walls, off the kitchen counters, moved all the furniture into the center of the room, and removed outlet and light switch covers. Then on Friday morning at 7:30am, the painters arrived.
I worked nervously all day wondering how the paint would look when we got home. The painters called at 12:00 letting us know they were finished. Too bad it takes Jeff and me longer than that to paint ONE room much less the whole house.
When we got home, we anxiously walked in the house and were thrilled with what we saw. The color looks amazing AND the painters made an executive decision to paint upstairs too. I was literally jumping up and down and squealing in delight. We paid $120 to get our house painted. Are you kidding me? Lucky, lucky us.
So on Saturday we spent the morning putting our house back together and we scaled back quite a bit on our decor. We didn't put as many things back on the walls and put less out on display. It just looks a lot cleaner and better.
